Do you want to make a real difference?

Here you contribute to creating safety for people and communities. What you do matters.

Your Role

We are looking for a section manager for Autonomy & GNC who wants to combine continued technical depth with formal leadership. The role is suitable for you who are currently a senior engineer in navigation and control systems and want to take responsibility for developing both technology and people.

You belong to the business unit Underwater Systems within the business area SAAB Kockums, where we develop torpedoes, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV), underwater sensors, and naval mines.

In this role, you exercise leadership in a combination of technical depth and a developing approach with the engineers in the teams. You are active in the development of control and navigation systems while leading.

Our systems must operate safely, precisely, and independently in complex marine environments. This places high demands on robust algorithms, control strategies, and system integration. You help set the technical direction for the section and are responsible for ensuring that work methods and quality are maintained at a high level.

Specific tasks in the role include:

  • Work operationally with the development of control systems, navigation, and regulation for marine autonomous systems
  • Lead two teams within Autonomy & GNC with personnel responsibility
  • Ensure technical quality and contribute to the section's method and competence development
  • Develop junior engineers' technical maturity and working methods
  • Contribute to long-term technical strategy in the area

Previous formal management experience is not a requirement. If you have had informal leadership responsibilities or acted as a technical mentor, we see it as a merit. You will receive support to grow into the managerial role.

Your Profile

You are an experienced engineer in control engineering, navigation, or GNC and are interested in working with system development of products that operate in technically complex environments.

You are confident in the engineering role and want to remain deeply involved in technical solutions. There is an opportunity to work closely with research, and field trials are a natural part of our development cycle.

You have experience working with junior engineers and see the value in developing others' skills.

We believe you have:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field
  • Experience or understanding of control engineering, navigation, and GNC
  • Experience in system development for technically complex environments
  • Ability to combine technical depth with structured leadership
  • A clear and trust-building way of communicating
